Job description

A specialist engineering support business operating within high-risk, execution-driven construction environments is seeking to appoint a Post-Tensioned Concrete Inspector to support the delivery of complex structural concrete systems across major projects.

The organisation operates at the intersection of design intent and construction execution, providing site-based engineering and inspection services where structural integrity, precision, and compliance are critical. This role is focused on ensuring that post-tensioned concrete works are executed in accordance with approved designs, international standards, and project specifications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, verification, and quality assurance of post-tensioned concrete systems, including tendon installation, stressing operations, and anchoring procedures. The role requires strong technical understanding of post-tensioning systems, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure site environments.

Key Responsibilities

Post-Tensioned Concrete Inspection & Compliance

  • Inspect post-tensioned concrete works including tendon installation, stressing, and anchoring activities
  • Monitor stressing operations and verify correct application of tensioning forces
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and international standards
  • Adhere to codes such as ACI, BS, ASTM, or equivalent

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Identify non-conformances, defects, and installation deviations
  • Recommend and monitor corrective actions to ensure compliance
  • Support QA/QC processes across post-tensioned concrete works
  • Ensure consistent quality control standards on site

Technical Oversight & Validation

  • Review post-tensioning methods, procedures, and execution plans
  • Validate installation processes against structural design requirements
  • Provide technical input on post-tensioned concrete systems and performance

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate inspection records and reports
  • Review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality documentation
  • Compile technical inspection reports and communicate findings to stakeholders

Site Coordination & Support

  • Liaise with contractors, engineers, and project teams on site
  • Provide technical guidance on post-tensioned concrete installation
  • Support resolution of site-based engineering and quality issues

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with site safety requirements during inspection activities
  • Identify risks related to stressing operations and structural integrity
  • Promote safe execution of high-risk construction activities

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng / BSc Civil Engineering (Structural)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PrEng / PE) or equivalent international registration
  • 3–5 years’ experience in post-tensioned concrete systems
  • Strong knowledge of post-tensioning methods and construction processes
  • Understanding of international codes (ACI, BS, ASTM or equivalent)
  • Ability to interpret structural drawings and post-tensioning layouts
