A property investment organisation with a growing student accommodation portfolio is seeking to appoint an Accountant to join its finance team.

The business operates within a multi-entity environment, focused on accurate financial reporting, strong cash flow management, and compliance-driven accounting processes. The role sits within a fast-paced and high-volume finance function where attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple entities is critical.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting end-to-end accounting functions across the student portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and timely financial outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

Multi-Entity Accounting & Processing:

• Perform daily accounting and processing tasks across multiple entities within the student portfolio
• Capture and reconcile financial data from different systems into MDA accounting software
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all financial records

Management Accounts & Reporting:

• Prepare monthly management accounts across assigned entities
• Analyse actual vs budget and forecast variances and provide clear explanations
• Support monthly financial reporting and decision-making processes

VAT & Compliance:

• Prepare VAT calculations and reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve VAT variances
• Assist with SARS queries and provide required supporting documentation

Cash Flow & Forecasting:

• Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts
• Monitor liquidity across entities
• Support financial planning and forecasting processes

Audit & Year-End Support:

• Prepare audit folders and supporting schedules annually
• Assist in the preparation and review of Annual Financial Statements
• Ensure audit readiness across all assigned entities

Tax & Financial Support:

• Prepare tax computations and supporting schedules
• Assist with financial analysis and reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations

Minimum Requirements:

• Accounting degree or diploma (advantageous)
• 2–3 years relevant accounting experience
• Working knowledge of MDA system (advantageous)
• Intermediate Excel skills
• Strong proficiency in MS Office
