Job description
A well-established property investment organisation with a growing portfolio of income-generating assets is seeking a hands-on Accountant to manage the full accounting function up to trial balance. The business operates within a structured investment environment focused on property acquisition, management, and long-term asset performance. The finance function plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and reliable data to support operational and investment decision-making. The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day accounting processes, ensuring the integrity of financial records and supporting month-end reporting cycles within a fast-paced property finance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Ledger Management:
- Capture and process supplier invoices accurately and timeously
- Maintain general ledger accounts up to trial balance
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
Reconciliations & Reporting:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Reconcile creditor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Reconcile intercompany loan accounts across group entities
- Complete utility reconciliations (water, electricity, recoveries)
Month-End & Processing:
- Perform month-end procedures, including journals (accruals, prepayments, intercompany)
- Prepare and load payment batches for approval
- Support month-end close processes and reporting timelines
Systems & Controls:
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data on the MDA Property Management System
- Maintain proper financial controls and documentation standards
Minimum Requirements:
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
- Essential: Hands-on experience with MDA Property Management System
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles up to trial balance
- Proven experience with reconciliations and month-end processes
- Strong Excel skills (data handling and reconciliation work)
- Experience in property or investment environment advantageous
- High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
