Job description

A well-established retail property management group with a strong focus on shopping centre operations, tenant experience, and asset performance is seeking to appoint an Operations Manager to oversee a retail centre in Burgersfort.

The organisation manages a portfolio of retail and commercial assets, with a strong emphasis on well-maintained shopping environments, efficient building operations, and sustainable tenant mix performance. The business is known for its hands-on asset management approach, ensuring that centres are clean, safe, operationally efficient, and commercially successful.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day building operations, managing service providers, and ensuring optimal functionality of the retail centre while maintaining high standards of customer and tenant satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the retail shopping centre
  • Manage building maintenance, cleaning, security, and service contractors
  • Ensure optimal functioning of all building systems and infrastructure
  • Conduct regular inspections of the centre and resolve operational issues
  • Manage tenant operational requirements and support store needs
  • Monitor service provider performance and contract compliance
  • Ensure health, safety, and security standards are maintained
  • Assist with budgeting and control of operational expenditure
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance plans
  • Liaise with tenants, contractors, and management on operational matters
  • Ensure the centre remains clean, safe, and well-presented at all times

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail operations, facilities, or building management
  • Strong understanding of shopping centre or commercial property operations
  • Experience managing contractors and service providers essential
  • Strong technical and maintenance coordination ability
  • Good financial awareness and budget control experience
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal ability
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s licence preferred
