Job description

A leading construction firm is seeking an experienced HR Officer to support its business unit. This role offers the opportunity to drive people strategy, talent management, and employee relations across multiple project sites in a dynamic, growth-focused construction environment.

Minimum Requirements:
• B.Com Human Resource Management or related qualification
• Minimum 5 years' HR experience, preferably within the construction industry
• Proven experience in an African business unit or multi-site operational environment
• Strong knowledge of HR legislation, labour law, and compliance frameworks
• Excellent employee relations, conflict resolution, and grievance management skills
• Experience in talent acquisition, onboarding, and workforce planning
• Proficiency in payroll administration and HR information systems
• Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to travel to project sites as required

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding
• Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR record management
• Ensure compliance with local labour laws, BCEA, and construction industry regulations
• Drive employee relations, grievance handling, and disciplinary processes
• Support talent management, performance reviews, and succession planning
• Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks
• Coordinate training and development programmes for site and office personnel
• Maintain accurate HR data, reporting, and analytics using HRIS platforms
• Advise line managers on people-related matters and organisational change
• Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with safety and operational excellence
