Job description
A specialist engineering support business operating within high-risk, execution-driven construction environments is seeking to appoint a Concrete Construction Inspector to support reinforced concrete works across complex project sites.
The organisation operates at the intersection of design intent and construction delivery, providing practical, site-focused engineering and inspection services where quality, compliance, and safety are critical. The role is highly site-based and focused on ensuring that reinforced concrete works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and international standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, verification, and quality assurance of concrete works, including reinforcement, formwork, and placement activities. This role requires a strong understanding of concrete construction methodologies, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure site environments.
Key Responsibilities
Reinforced Concrete Inspection & Compliance
- Inspect reinforcement, formwork, and concrete placement activities on site
- Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and standards
- Monitor concrete pouring, curing, and finishing processes
- Ensure adherence to international codes such as ACI, ASTM, and BS
Quality Assurance & Control
- Identify non-conformances, defects, and workmanship issues
- Recommend and monitor corrective actions to ensure compliance
- Support implementation of QA/QC processes across concrete works
- Ensure consistent inspection standards across all activities
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate inspection records and reports
- Review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality documentation
- Compile inspection reports and communicate findings to project stakeholders
Site Coordination & Technical Support
- Liaise with contractors, engineers, and site teams on quality matters
- Provide guidance on concrete construction practices and standards
- Support resolution of site-related quality and compliance issues
Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards during inspection activities
- Identify risks associated with concrete works and site operations
- Promote safe and compliant construction practices
Minimum Requirements
- Civil Engineering Diploma or Degree
- ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector certification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in reinforced concrete inspection
- Strong knowledge of concrete construction practices
- Understanding of international codes (ACI, ASTM, BS or equivalent)
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
- Proven ability to work effectively in site-based, high-pressure environments
