Job description

A well-established construction and project-focused organisation operating across Africa is seeking to appoint a Senior Procurement Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight of procurement activities across multiple regions.

The role is responsible for driving effective sourcing strategies, supplier management, contract negotiation, cost optimisation, and procurement governance across a diverse, cross-border operational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with regional leadership, project teams, finance, and operational stakeholders to ensure procurement activities are commercially sound, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

This is a high-impact, leadership-focused role requiring strong commercial acumen, extensive procurement experience within large-scale project environments, and the ability to operate effectively across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead and oversee procurement activities across regional operations and projects
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business and operational objectives
  • Drive procurement governance, policies, and best practices across multiple regions
  • Support strategic growth and expansion initiatives across African operations

Tendering, Sourcing & Commercial Management:

  • Manage tendering processes and supplier selection in line with governance requirements
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements with suppliers and service providers
  • Drive cost optimisation and value creation initiatives across procurement activities
  • Oversee end-to-end procurement lifecycle from sourcing through to contract execution

Supplier & Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and manage strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure delivery against agreed standards
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including Finance, Operations, and Project teams
  • Support supplier development and performance improvement initiatives

Risk Management & Governance:

  • Identify and mitigate procurement and supply chain risks across projects and regions
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Strengthen procurement controls and governance frameworks across operations
  • Support accurate procurement reporting, forecasting, and spend analysis

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Commerce, Engineering, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management advantageous
  • 8–10 years’ experience in a senior procurement or supply chain role
  • Extensive experience within construction, engineering, mining, or large-scale project environments
  • Proven experience managing procurement across multiple African countries
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, sourcing strategies, and supplier management
  • Experience with tendering, contract negotiation, and contract management
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) and ERP procurement systems
  • Knowledge of Buildsmart and Construction Computer Software (CCS) advantageous
  • Willingness and ability to travel across African regions
  • Valid driver’s licence
