A well-established, independent quantity surveying consultancy operating within the built environment is seeking to appoint a Candidate Quantity Surveyor to join its professional team.

The practice provides specialist cost management services across a diverse range of construction sectors, including commercial, residential, retail, mixed-use, and infrastructure developments. It is recognised for delivering accurate cost advice, robust commercial support, and involvement across the full project lifecycle, from early feasibility through to final account.

The successful candidate will gain broad, hands-on exposure to multiple stages of project delivery while working under the guidance of experienced Professional Quantity Surveyors. This role offers structured development toward professional registration and increasing project responsibility within a consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing feasibility estimates, cost plans, and budget reports
• Support the measurement and compilation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
• Assist with tender documentation, adjudication, and recommendations
• Conduct site visits and support progress measurement and valuation updates
• Assist in preparing interim valuations and payment certificates
• Support monitoring of project budgets and cost reporting
• Assist with variation orders, claims, and contractual administration
• Compile and maintain project cost records and supporting documentation
• Assist in preparation of final accounts
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, and project teams under supervision
• Support senior quantity surveyors with reporting and client deliverables
• Develop competency in cost management, contract administration, and procurement processes

Requirements:

• BSc / BSc Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Candidate Quantity Surveyor with SACQSP
• 1–3 years’ experience in a consulting QS or construction environment (advantageous)
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving ability
• Understanding of basic construction contracts and cost control principles
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work within a team and follow professional guidance
• Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
