Job description

A well-established, medium-to-large construction contractor operating across building and civil engineering projects is seeking to appoint a Site Quantity Surveyor to join its project delivery team.

The organisation delivers a wide range of infrastructure and building works, including commercial developments, residential housing, industrial projects, and civil infrastructure. It is recognised for its hands-on project execution approach, strong commercial control on site, and commitment to delivering projects within budget and programme requirements.

The successful candidate will be based on active project sites and will play a key role in managing day-to-day commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects while working closely with the project management and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all site-based quantity surveying functions across assigned projects
  • Prepare and review interim valuations and payment certificates
  • Conduct regular site measurements and progress assessments
  • Manage variation orders, instructions, and change control processes
  • Assist in cost reporting, forecasting, and budget monitoring
  • Measure works for subcontractor payments and final accounts
  • Support procurement and subcontractor commercial management
  • Ensure accurate site records, measurements, and documentation are maintained
  • Liaise with site agents, engineers, subcontractors, and the head office QS team
  • Assist in resolving contractual and commercial issues on site
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and highlight risks early

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc / BSc (Hons) Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • 2–5 years’ experience in a construction contracting environment
  • Experience working on-site within building or civil projects
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and measurement principles
  • Ability to interpret drawings and manage site-based cost control
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently under site conditions
  • Valid driver’s licence
