Job description
A well-established construction contractor with a strong delivery record across building and civil engineering projects is seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team.
The organisation undertakes medium to large-scale projects across commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure sectors, with a focus on efficient project delivery, cost control, and contractual compliance.
The successful candidate will take full commercial responsibility for multiple projects and will play a key leadership role in managing cost performance, contractual risk, and subcontractor administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commercial management of multiple construction projects
- Prepare and oversee cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
- Manage subcontractor procurement, contracts, and payments
- Oversee interim valuations, certifications, and final accounts
- Manage variations, claims, and contractual correspondence
- Monitor project profitability and cost performance
- Provide commercial advice to project and site management teams
- Conduct regular financial reporting to senior management
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and risk management procedures
- Lead site-based and head office QS teams where required
- Support dispute resolution and commercial negotiations
- Contribute to tender reviews and project handovers
Minimum Requirements:
- BSc / BSc (Hons) Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- Professional registration (or progressing toward registration) advantageous
- 6–10+ years’ experience in construction contracting environment
- Strong knowledge of JBCC/NEC or similar standard forms of contract
- Proven experience managing full project lifecycle commercially
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and decision-making ability
- Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
- Valid driver’s licence
