Job description
A well-established civil construction contractor is seeking to appoint a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join its workshop team responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty construction equipment.
The organisation operates a fleet of earthmoving and construction machinery used across infrastructure, earthworks, and civil engineering projects, requiring strong technical maintenance support to ensure operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining all plant and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service, repair, and maintain earthmoving and construction equipment
- Perform fault-finding and diagnostics on machinery
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all fleet equipment
- Repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Carry out welding and fabrication work where required
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Ensure equipment complies with safety standards
- Support workshop and field-based repairs
Minimum Requirements:
- Red Seal Trade Certificate (Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic)
- Code 8 driver’s licence
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with heavy machinery
- Experience in construction, mining, or agricultural equipment
- Strong fault-finding and preventative maintenance skills
- Auto electrical knowledge advantageous
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
